Riding the public transportation and observing people I've observed a big difference between here and home in how children are treated. I've not seen a child younger than about 14 with a cell phone in their hand. At a restaurant there was a father and 5 year old son. The boy sat quietly, looked around, ate and talked with his father. On a train a mother had a 4 year old and she was helping him learn the English words for things - car, tree etc. Children are just more well behaved. Parents spend more time just talking with their children.
We went to Zaandam to see a reconstructed windmill village. We thought we would spend 2 or 3 hours there but ended up spending 4 or 5 hours there. We went up into a working windmill to see how it saws logs and how the wood is treated before and after. We saw where they made barrels, weaved fabric for boat sails, and very small houses where families lived
And walked 5.4 miles!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a picture out of the window where we ate our evening meal. Wonderful view and wonderful food.
